One Great Cut-Up

At first glance, this next celebration might appear to be one of the few non-sweet days. That is, of course, if you overlook the dark brown sugar, molasses or honey. Then, more likely than not, the next thought will reflect upon Thanksgiving or Christmas. However, there is no written or verbal law, stating that you can only enjoy this specialty's nice and crispy caramelized sugar-coated outside skin in November or December.

There are a multitude of ways in which to prepare a ham but on this day, you want to be sure the ham is "spiral". This ham is hearty and savory, yet sweet. The traditional 'spiral' is glazed with a mixture of sugar, honey, or orange juice and enhanced in flavor with cloves, mustard and Worcestershire sauce.
