Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

The Original American Idol

Today in Music History: January 29

Popular talent show TV shows have been popular for decades (nearly 70 years). Many recording artists got their start on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts (first episode December, 1948) going on to be showcased on the already established Ed Sullivan Show. In the 21st century, shows such as America's Got Talent, The Voice, Britain's Got Talent, X-Factor and American Idol begin the list of Best Talent Show TV Shows. Do you have a favorite which you watch and vote? Did you watch the first American Idol episode?

Welcome into the Spotlight...

Kelly Brianne Clarkson: winner of the first season of American Idol

Kelly Brianne Clarkson (born April 24, 1982) is an American singer and songwriter who rose to fame in 2002 after winning the first season of American Idol. She has since been established as "The Original American Idol."

A very emotional moment!

Clarkson's debut single, "A Moment Like This", topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and broke the record for the biggest jump to number one in the chart's history; it became the best-selling single of the year in the country. She became the runner-up of World Idol the following year.

In a career spanning over a decade, Clarkson has accumulated ninety-one No.1s on the Billboard charts and eleven international No.1 singles, and has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.

On this day...
2009 Former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson made the largest ever leap to number one in US chart history, rising 96 places. Her single, 'My Life Would Suck Without You', rose from 97 to the top of the Billboard chart after selling 280,000 downloads in its first week of release. A clip from the video for the single was premiered in the commercial break of that week's episode of American Idol.

No. 1 Question on this Day...
A New York based data company issued a chart listing sales of posthumous albums. The idea came about after radio stations wanted to distinguish between proper recordings when the artists were alive and CD's released after they died. Mike Shalett founder of SoundScan said there was only one problem. What to call the chart????? The Top 5 chart had The Doors at No.5, Eva Cassidy at 4, Jimi Hendrix at 3, Bob Marley at 2 and 2Pac at No.1

Bieber go home!
2014 Nearly 274,000 people signed a petition to deport Canadian citizen Justin Bieber out of America. The campaign followed his arrest earlier this month for drunk driving and driving without a valid license. According to US Government protocol, once a petition has over 100,000 signatures, it must be reviewed by White House staff, who will have to respond to it.
Three months later, what kind of response do you think came from the White House? Click HERE...

And the music goes on beating to the rhythm of the changing times...
