Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

School Lunch: What's Cooking?

Throughout history, school lunches have not measured up to home cooked meals. Of course, this is comparatively speaking to parents who cook at home vs. fast-food meals brought home or eaten outside the home. In either case, the concern still should be all about nutrition. While some school lunch reforms have taken place, there is still room for improvement. Become involved!

October 15 is...

Once you reach a certain age, doing anything with your parents seems instantly uncool with the last thing you want to do is go out for lunch with them, especially at school. Well, that is all about to change.
Take Your Parents To Lunch Day is a real, national holiday! It is becoming increasingly popular being widely celebrated by kids and schools year after year. The purpose is not so much for parents to have an enjoyable lunch, but rather to provide a rare chance to look at what is going on in the school kitchen, an insight into what children are eating when away from home...at school.
Take Your Parents To Lunch Day needs to be encouraged. It’s a way for parents to offer opinions, help improve the system and make the food options as healthy as possible. Keep the lines of communication open to work together in providing kids healthy, but enjoyable, meals!
