Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

Chocolate with a Unique Crunch!

First thought of crunch in chocolate is more than likely Getting Nuttier with Chocolate, a vision of a crunchy bunch of peanuts held together by chocolate. Or perhaps you like the sweet 'n' salty combination of chocolate-covered pretzels. Not either case here! In fact, the tidbits that go crunch on this day are definitely NOT for everyone! This may be the one chocolate day you might just want to exclaim, "I pass."

October 14 is...
National Chocolate-Covered Insects Day

Just about every day of the year there is a food in the spotlight. October 14 is no exception other than it just might be an occasion you will try (or NOT) for the first time. There are certainly more taste-tempting methods of acquiring a little extra protein than chocolate coating an insect. Whether scorpions, superworms, silkworms, spiders, grasshoppers, ants, beetles or crickets, they are still all insects. Roaches? That is a bit too much nastiness. However, if you want to have some fun grossing out your friends for Halloween, plant the idea but don't tell anyone your secret 'til after the first bite!
