Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

Eggs-tra! Eggs-tra! Read all about it!

Today's headlines are all about the incredible edible egg! We just celebrated Egg-licious! on October 10 with that not being the first for the egg. It is pretty much common knowledge there is Nothin' to just one egg! as noted and celebrated in June. So, why should you be surprised at another egg day!

October 14 is ...

WORLD Egg Day

The second Friday in October is celebrated as World Egg Day since eggs are literally eaten all over the world! It is interesting to note 98% of the eggs produced are eaten in the country responsible for their production.

Eggs are so versatile found in a diverse variety of recipes. Not only are they known for their diversity but also the fact that there are many Different Types of Eggs from A to Z! Eggs have been known to be eaten raw to hard-boiled and everything in between including simply devilish goodness that declares you cannot eat just one (half, that is). This little devil of an egg even has its own day of celebration - National Deviled Egg Day that comes much later in the year.

Not only are eggs versatile but nutritious too...

~Recipe Time~

Aside the various ways of cooking -- scrambled, poached, boiled or fried -- egg is the main ingredient in many common recipes. Breakfast egg recipes include quiche, strata, soufflé, omelet, frittata and crepes. Desserts made primarily with egg include cakes, pies, cream puffs, custard and flan. Eggnog is a beverage made with egg, and soups like egg drop soup and some noodle soups also contain egg.
