There are times when the festivities are fun, a chance to challenge ourselves, uncover likes, perhaps dislikes, expand our knowledge of humorous trivia, wonder how we live with the weird and many times just simply bask in the bizarre. While most parts of the nation are experiencing varying degrees of cold, it will not be unusual for people to don their wintry hats...beanies, head wraps, knit caps...before venturing outside. These hats are worn in hopes of the head stayin' warm. A flip side would be those who wear the hats because their jobs demand it...maybe for professional attire or perhaps for safety. For whatever the reason or for no particular reason at all other than celebration, today reach for a hat and put it on!
Even though the Kentucky Derby is months away, National Hat Day is the perfect time to take a peak at some of the wildest & craziest hats ever. The Kentucky Derby is a spectator sport with one eye on the horse race and the other on the latest hat extra-vagance and style. It is a time to test who can outdo whom!
The hat can be the most important accessory. It keeps your head safe from the elements, shows off your personal style and in some cases, especially the men, hides the bald spot! There was a time when a gentleman would not be caught on the street without wearing the best of hats, whether business or a Stetson. For the woman, one did not attend church without the latest in hat fashion!

National Hat Day is set aside to wear and enjoy a hat of your choice and
style. Isn't it great that hats come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and styles?
There's one to fit every size head and personality. Often, hats are used
to make a statement, or advertise a cause or a product.
Get the kids & grandkids involved!
More body heat is lost from your head than other parts
of the body. So, wearing a hat goes a long way towards staying warm on a
cold winter's day (or night).
