Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

Cuddle with Pooh

The events of Martin Luther King Day and the first polar bear exhibit in the US bring about celebrations filled with recognition of honor, commitment, and lots of love. In the midst of all the hoopla lies a story that has spanned the sands of time for nearly a century inspiring and entertaining young and old alike to this day. Filled with love, smiles and plenty of hugs one will find this cuddly bear dear to the heart of us all.

January 18 is also...
Winnie the Pooh Day

Everyday we awaken to a sunrise should be a favorite day regardless whether rainy or sunshine. It is a new day. A new beginning. A birthday, an anniversary for someone somewhere. It just so happens a very special birthday is celebrated on this day...

Alan Alexander Milne (18 January 1882 – 31 January 1956) was an English author, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and for various children's poems. Milne was a noted writer, primarily as a playwright, before the huge success of Pooh overshadowed all his previous work. [Source: en.wikipedia.org]

Milne did not stop with just the Winnie the Pooh character, who by the way was named after a teddy bear owned by his son. Winnie's pals include Christopher Robin (his son's name), Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet, and Roo. Christopher's toys lent their names to most of the other characters created for the stories.

Pick up a Pooh book today, from your own collection, your child's collection or maybe even visit the library. Have some fun! Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day by reading one or more of the storybooks about the adventures of Winnie and his friends. Read them with your children, grandchildren, neighborhood kids or just for yourself in reflection of your own childhood days. Whichever route you choose, don't forget to cuddle! That's the bestest part of all, except maybe starting the day with honey and biscuits!

Pooh Bear's favorite food is honey so let's celebrate by having a honey of a day!
