What is more loveable and hugable than the teddy bear? Whether you had one as a favorite childhood 'friend' or perhaps adopted one as an adult, your little bear more than likely became a very special part of your life. The teddy bear has quite a history and even has its own day, American Teddy Bear Day, designated for celebration but we'll discuss that later since it is a few months away. Tomorrow we get to celebrate along with our teddy bears!
Children love teddy bears... inviting friends over, comparing teddy bears, sharing teddy bears, having a teddy bear picnic. What about the adults? Adults love food with a most enjoyable time to 'dine out' being going on a picnic. So...Guess what?
July 10 is...
Grab your favorite stuffed teddy, a hamper of goodies, and set off for Teddy Bear Picnic Day! Since we are in the middle of summer with its stifling heat you may want to picnic by the lake or a swimming pool. Another option would be a shady place perhaps even in your own backyard or right in the middle of your family room floor. Why not arrange an outing with friends and family? Enjoy the summer sun, fun and games, and be creative with your teddy bear 'friends'!
At the end of the day, be sure everyone receives a teddy bear hug, even the bears themselves!
Teddy Bear Hugs
*****
there is something magical
in the hugs of a teddy bear
hugging and getting hugged
have a special place anywhere
in times of just not feeling good
moods can suddenly be shifted
bear hugs somehow understand
so spirits are quickly lifted
darkness acquires a new light
when tucked in bed all cozy and snug
dreams and memories are awakened
as sleep begins with a teddy bear hug
cuddled in secure arms, soft and warm
evocative tranquil moments occur
the teddy bear hug is never forsaken
even amidst worn-out spots, frazzled fur
loved by everyone, child and adult
the teddy bear travels anywhere wanted
the more hugs given, the more received
with comfort never ever being daunted
