What's not to love about blueberries? They are gorgeous in color with rich purple hues boasting a great all natural way to add color and flavor to any dessert! Of course, today is not just any dessert, it's all about cheesecake and these blueberries are not from a can simply poured or spooned on top. Of course, if that is all you have, it will do quite nicely!
First things first. Let's talk about the cheesecake. Cheesecake is an institution in itself. The treat’s origins go back to antiquity, but Americans have truly made it their own by adding a variety of flavors. Cheesecake is as widespread as it is versatile. The recipes and ingredients vary from region to region, state to state, country to country. Europeans use ricotta or curd cheese which makes the final product spongy and a little harder, while in America, cream cheese keeps the dessert full-bodied and light at the same time.Amount of Sugar in Blueberries |
Tidbit of Trivia...
The state of Maine is the larger producer of blueberries in the world with more than 60,000 acres of blueberry bushes being farmed. In the United States and Canada harvesting season can run from early May in the warmer portions to the end of August in the northern-most area.
Get to work and get it made!
