Today is...
You might think Join Hands Day is all about shaking the hands of strangers you meet on the street but it is actually joining hands to celebrate fraternalism. This day is dedicated to attempting a union in communities between the older generation and the younger generation. There are many areas in the world where youths are persecuted and the elderly are presented as weak and frail. Join Hands Day affords time for communities to come together in recognizing and completing helpful projects through neighborhood volunteering.
Many communities across the world will use Join Hands Day to start dialogues between youth and adults to build relationships, plant seeds of communication, which can exist for years to come. If you want to get involved try paying a visit to a community center or elderly home, and show that regardless of age all humans need to be appreciated and loved.
A different connection...
The recognition of a Join Hands Day brings to mind the hit song "Love Train" by the O'Jays. It was 1973, the height of the Philadelphia soul genre was dawning, and "Love Train" came along with just the right sound at just the right time. The lyrics made a call for unity and world peace, mentioning England, Russia, China, Egypt, Israel, and Africa. Relevant today as well. The song has a kind of sleeper hit status because it never quite goes away; it's been used in numerous TV and film soundtracks, as well as in popular commercials for Coors Light.
Join hands in service, join hands in love!
