Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

National Cookie Day

December 4th is National Cookie Day!

THE Cookie

Ah-h-h! The cookie
That thin, sweet, small cake
Biscuit or snack treat

Molasses cookies—homey and historic,
from the days when sugar was unaffordable to most households—
from This Little Cookie. Photo by Dhanraj Emanuel.

What is your favorite -
The one most desired
The one most elite?

Is it the Oreo -
Rich dark chocolate
With vanilla cream...

Homemade Oreo Cookie

Or perhaps peanut butter
All to itself
Nothing in between?

Could it be oatmeal
Chocked full of raisins
Oats and spices...

Or is it chocolate chip
A brown sugar delight
Whose aroma alone entices?

What about pecan sandies
All buttery, light and crisp
Loaded with nutty tidbits?

Whatever your heart's desire
It's full of sheer goodness
With its share of crav'ns & fits!

  1. I LOVE cookies, and I've been making different batches for the past couple of days. My mom and I always made cookies at Christmas, so that's probably part of why I like them so much. I must confess that my favorite cookie isn't homemade. It's Pepperidge Farms Crispy Salsalitos. Yummy!
