Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

A Legend Remembered

Today in Music History: April 6, 1998

What better way to end the day than with a reflection on music. And, what better reflection than one on the "First Lady of Country Music." Surely you know who I mean. . .

On this day, April 6, 1998, American country singer Tammy Wynette died at the age of 55. During the late 60s and early 70s, she scored 17 hit singles including "Stand By Your Man", and sold over 30 million records world-wide, married five times and once filed for bankruptcy. The "First Lady of Country Music" had the 1991 hit with The KLF "Justified and Ancient" which became a No. 1 hit in eighteen countries.

Enjoy the music of legendary Tammy Wynette!

"Apartment #9," Wynette's first single, was released late in 1966 and almost broke the country Top 40 early in 1967.

Many of Wynette's hits dealt with classic themes of loneliness, D.I.V.O.R.C.E., and the difficulties of man-woman relationships.

Tammy once said: "I spent 15 minutes writing ["Stand by Your Man"],
and a lifetime defending it."

KLF's "Justified and Ancient" video clip is the last big success of Tammy Wynette before her death.

And the music goes on beating to the rhythm of the changing times...
