Welcome to Awakenings
Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

Washington Monument
This Day in History: December 6, 1884
The Washington Monument was constructed as a memorial to George Washington, the First President of the United States of America. On this day in 1884, in Washington, D.C., workers place a nine-inch aluminum pyramid atop a tower of white marble. It is the most prominent landmark in Washington, DC standing as the centerpiece of the National Mall. The monument is indeed monumental measuring 555 feet 5 1/8 inches high. Fifty flags surround the base of
the Washington Monument symbolizing the 50 states of America.
