Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night..."

Within an age of advancing technology, there are a plethora of ways to communicate and conduct transactions. Does that mean the days of the United States Postal Service (USPS), a cherished American institution, might be numbered? While the Internet may be convenient, its functionality is dependent upon the mood of the cyber ghost on any given day.

As for the postal service, remember the inscription: Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds? I call that dedication! Of course, while technology contends with cyber ghosts, Mother Nature often denies our mail carriers unstoppable rounds!

Can the postal service survive a shrinking budget, advancing technologies and have a future? That, of course, is uncertain with its state of affairs being a tad bit short of desirable these days. As for me, I will still send cards, write letters and mail packages if for no other reason than the personal touch one cannot apply going through e-This & e-That

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has been around for a long, long time tracing its roots to 1775. It has existed to bind the nation together. It will be a sad day when the doors of the United States Post Office close for the last time leaving their bonds of friendship, family and community no longer intact.

Feeling a little nostalgic?

Do you remember The Beatles and their hit Mr. Postman?

Have you seen the movie The Postman

Do we really want it to come to this?

Give me the few pieces of junk mail in my mail box on a regular basis over the thousands of spam messages received daily via e-mail!
