My heart cries out to thee

Are we slowly, slowly losing

Rights once thought of as free?

   

Are we being stripped
One freedom at a time
Shrewdly, silently

Sneaking up from behind?

   

 Have we totally run amiss
Become completely blind?

Can this really be happening?

We're right here the entire time

   

We have the right to speak
Let our voice be heard
Why aren't we crying out
Chirping like a bird?

     

America! America!

With freedom comes a price
Very heavy indeed
 Sacrifices with honor

Dreams our forefathers sought
Theirs at a very high price
Only because they fought!

Are our 'freedoms' being taken away or is it just ramblings? I know for me as one I do not want to wake up one day looking back and wondering how I missed the inevitable!
