Welcome to Awakenings

Life IS history in the making. Every word we say, everything we do becomes history the moment it is said or done. Life void of memories leaves nothing but emptiness. For those who might consider history boring, think again: It is who we are, what we do and why we are here. We are certainly individuals in our thoughts and deeds but we all germinated from seeds planted long, long ago.

It's party time...for the CAT!

With Awakenings sister site being catnipoflife, there is no better way to start this day than with the celebration of THE CAT!

What's happenin'?

Meow, Meow, Meow...etc. The curiosity of our feline friends is never ceasing! Anyone who owns a cat is very familiar with the curious nature that is a natural instinct throughout daily routines. By nature, a cat is an explorer and a natural hunter, constantly on the hunt but not necessarily for food. They are always on a quest for the unknown. Antics and attitudes that may seem strange to us appear very normal to the cat. Cats like, often demand attention, but want it when they want it and in the amount they want...on their terms so to speak! With that being said, it is time for the cat to have his or her day...literally!

October 29 is...

"What greater gift than the love of a cat?"—Charles Dickens

National Cat Day encourages the celebration, worship and adoration of cats, in the same way that human cultures have since the dawn of civilization. The day was created in 2005 by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige, whose aim was to raise awareness of the number of cats that are rescued each year and to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the felines in their lives.
Nationalcatday.com says "on October 29th....it's party time! We encourage you to spoil your fur baby a little more on National Cat Day than any other day (you don't want them to get too demanding do you?) by buying them a new toy drenched in cat nip, giving them something simply scrumptious to eat, offering LOTS more cuddling and making a donation to  your local shelter in their honor. The best way you can celebrate though is to save a life!"
Cats are one of the most beloved human companions of all time. They were first domesticated in the Middle East’s Fertile Crescent as early as 12,000 years ago. When humans relied on hunting as their main source of food, dogs were most useful – but when the first agricultural societies emerged, cats became invaluable. Domesticated cats became responsible for keeping grain stores free of mice and other rodents. Today, cats can be found in 34% of American households, making them the most popular house pet in the United States.

Do you love cats? How will you be celebrating that love? Need Gift Ideas for THE Cat?
