The gig that changed the world!

The 60s have been dubbed the decade that changed a nation, not only in music but also tragic events but the impact was much greater truly influencing the world. It was the British that set yet another movement in motion, which changed the history of pop music. This time it was in the 70s.

The most pivotal pop-culture event of the 1970s happens to be the Sex Pistols' appearance at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester, England, on June 4, 1976. In a room that could virtually hold hundreds, only around four dozen people witnessed a show to later be known as "the gig that changed the world!"



What is Punk? The definition of a 'punk' is a worthless person. 'Punk' is also defined as a loud, fast-moving, aggressive form of rock music.

Since the 1970s, the punk culture has spread around the globe emerging in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Evolving into numerous forms the history of punk subculture plays an important part in the history of subcultures in the 20th century. According to wikipedia, "Punk bands created fast, hard-edged music, typically with short songs, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti-establishment lyrics."

A band known as the Sex Pistols have been attributed to initiating the Punk Movement in the United Kingdom and inspiring many later punk and alternative rock musicians.
