Is it Winter yet?

As the world turns, Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year. This is a time for changing of seasons from Fall into Winter last occurring on December 22, 2015. As Winter approached thoughts shifted to gray skies and cooler temperatures. For areas that ordinarily experience snow, the countryside's lushness of green was soon to be covered in a blanket of white as icicles danced about on porch eaves and dangled from naked branches.

At least that's the way it is suppose to be!

Some areas definitely had their fair share of snow, ice, slush, while others only a thick layer of wintry wet amid warmer temperatures. Then, of course, there was the totally unusual record breaker.

  December 2015

Is it Winter yet? While visits may be later this year than those of the past, Ol' Man Winter and Jack Frost still have their sights set on knock, knock, knocking at your door and dusting everything in sight with sugary frost. Winter may not be welcomed in the same fashion as Spring but there are some totally amazing senses that can only be triggered in the coldest season of the year.

Winter Spirit

Seek the Winter spirit
Only cold captures
It invites, refreshes
As it enraptures

Relish in thoughts
Quite walks deliver
 Soothing, uplifting
Reflections of silver

Listen to the wind-chimes
As North Winds embrace
 Melodious in song
Effortless with grace

Examine the trees
Every shrub, plant, and field
Clothed in downy white
Nature's paintbrushes yield

Find solace deep within
Lost in a daydream
Magical mystery
Enchantment doth gleam

After all, there is a Pristine Side of Winter's Jack Frost...
