Tidbits, Trivia & Things...everyone needs to know for FuN!

January 4 is a day of facts, figures and FUN! A day loaded with tidbits, trivia & things! Tidbits are tiny nuances of information not normally known by everyone. Did you know the "dot" over the letter "i" is called a tittle? To some this is considered a useless fact. If you are into Jeopardy or enjoy Trivial Pursuit, such known nuggets are not useless at all. Of course, you may simply enjoy the pleasure of impressing family and friends with little things YOU know they don't know.

* The slogan on New Hampshire license plates is "Live Free or Die." These license plates are manufactured by prisoners in the state prison in Concord. 

* Two-thirds of the world's eggplant is grown in New Jersey

* All 50 states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the $5 bill.
* Maine is the only state (in USA) whose name is just one syllable.

* Ninety percent of New York City cabbies are recently arrived immigrants.
* Alabama introduced the Mardi Gras to the western world.

* The state of Rhode Island could fit into Alaska 425 times. 

* The amount of copper on the roof of Arizona's Capitol building is equivalent to 4,800,000 pennies.

The cannonballs were stacked in a pyramid formation, called a brass monkey. When it got extremely cold outside they would crack and break off... Thus the saying.

Fourteen billion pounds of garbage, mostly plastic, is dumped into the ocean every year. This I would rather NOT know!

Each person in the U.S. produces about 4 pounds (2 kg) of garbage a day. Looks like we could at least keep it out of the ocean! Duh!
 
Ferengi, the name of a Star Trek alien race, is the Persian word for “foreigner.” Don't we consider foreigners on our shores aliens?

 The self-proclaimed Architect of Rock & Roll, Little Richard, a Macon, Georgia native and the city's Goodwill Ambassador for Tourism, sang the dishwasher's blues at Macon's bus station as a teenager, long before he sang "Tutti Frutti" for the world.
