Sacher Torte Day
Torte? Ever heard of it? Let's begin with a series of questions. Do you like cake? If you do, you need to know the difference between cake and a torte. A torte is considered a cake but not in the same sense as you might understand cake made with flour. The prior link goes into detail but in short, the torte is a much denser cake since most cakes use cake flour while tortes will often call for the addition of ground nut meal or breadcrumbs. Be sure to have a lot of whipped cream on hand since this cake's density tends to make it a bit dry. For today's celebration, let's take a trip to Vienna where it all started in the 19th century.
A bit of "Sacher Torte" History: A Piece of Vienn
The Original Sacher-Torte has been the most famous cake in the world since 1832 and the original recipe remains a well-kept secret of our hotel. Only the Original Sacher-Torte is produced according to this original recipe. The basis of the entire confection is a chocolate cake,
thinly coated by hand with best-quality apricot jam. The chocolate
