An abundance of celebrations occur throughout the year that center around ice cream, different flavors, sandwiches, sundaes, floats, sodas, splits, soft serve, cakes, pies, single, double, triple or just about anyway you like it. Therefore, it's not surprising to discover a delicate partner of this delicious cold treat being invented to ward off the heat on this day in history. Continuing with the month of July being Ice Cream Month, it would do ice cream an injustice to not include a bit of trivia about the ice cream cone.

No one knows the actual inventor of this flavorlicious holder of ice cream. Paper and metal cones had been used in Europe for some time to hold ice cream and it was known that edible cones were being served in England prior to its coming to America. As for its debut in America, this happenstance was quite by accident at the St. Louis World's Fair not long after the turn of the century. In fact, it was on this date in 1904. Children who attended the fair were the first ones in the world to eat this delicious treat.
