Fill & Fold
Flaky buttery crust greets the taste buds first in this sweet treat but it doesn't take long for the rich, syrupy apple pie filling to ooze its way in. Having been bathed in an egg wash and showered with cinnamon sugar, this delight makes apple pie green with envy. Then, to really dress it up, whirly, twirly swirls of simple vanilla glaze are drizzled over the top and slowly ease down the sides. What a delight and so easy to make often with only two ingredients: puff pastry and apple pie filling. Just fill a pastry square and fold into a triangle!
July 5 is...
National Apple Turnover Day
If you prefer the fresh apples over the canned pie filling, follow this basic recipe!
OR remain with the easy easy plan that calls for 3 main ingredients and an optional glaze. Recipe
Of course, there are a plethora of recipes available for this American treat which was first served in the 19th century. All you have to do is get to work and get some made!
