No Plain Donut Today!

Doughnuts, or donuts, both spell delicious regardless of what letters you use or choose to leave out. The two most common types of donuts are the ring doughnut and jelly-filled doughnut. Either type is a deep-fried piece of dough or batter. Even though doughnut history is somewhat disputed, it is widely accepted as coming from Dutch origin of the olykoeks or oliekoek, meaning 'oily cake'. Jelly-filled and chocolate frosted doughnuts rank as top sellers among hundreds of different varieties. Ready to celebrate?

June 8 is...

The doughnut, or donut, (doughnut vs. donut) has definitely become an American staple—great for breakfast, snack, as an on-the-run energy booster, enticer for meetings or any other time you can imagine.

The light, fluffy texture of the donut is already so mouth-watering and eye-appealing you can taste it way before it ever reaches the palate. But, filling it with jelly takes it to a whole new level of lusciousness. It's like biting though tasty pastry only to have the flavor burst forth as the rich, juicy jelly oozes down the sides of your mouth. Need a napkin? Never! Capturing the spillage with the tongue is just part of the ritual when eating a jelly donut!
