All Cakes ApPLe Sauced!

Apples are a major topic of celebration throughout the year! From the classic, all-American apple pie to the 'dipped' apples donning a stick at Halloween. Every way you turn, any day whatsoever, is the possibility of something being APPle, AppLE, APPLE-licious!

June 6 is...

National Applesauce Cake Day

Moist Applesauce Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe
A healthy snack food alternative good for any kid's lunchbox, as well as a nutritious side dish or flavorful condiment, is applesauce. It can also be used as a natural sweetener, especially in diabetic recipes and for today's celebration to add moistness and de-e-e-liciousness to cake. Applesauce can be purchased at your nearest grocery store or it can be homemade.
First, make the applesauce!

Then, bake the cake!

OR, bake a batch of applesauce cupcakes!

Q: Can applesauce be substituted for oil in cake mix?

A: Applesauce can be substituted for oil in a cake mix as long as it's not a butter cake mix. Pectin in applesauce acts as a natural thickener, which makes it a viable fat substitute. When substituting applesauce for oil or butter, the ratio is 1 to 1, meaning equal parts of applesauce are used as the recipe calls for butter or oil. Applesauce can also be used as a shortening or butter substitute in the preparation of icing, though the finished product is thinner than traditional icing.

Think about having that second slice of applesauce cake...
Now, go for it!

yum, yum, yum . . . yummy!

Don't you dare leave without knowing America's LOVE  for apples, apple blossom flowers, & apple cider!
