H2O!

H2O. Water. Life's mainstay. Without it, life as we know it, would be non-existent. Water is considered plentiful since it covers 2/3 of the earth but scarce in a different sense where fresh water is only 0.002%. Some parts of the planet are plush and green where water flows freely while other parts are parched and dry. Many areas seem to have abundant water sources but the problem is that water has sanitation issues - polluted, not drinkable.

March 22 is...

  •  Some 650 million people, or one in 10 of the world's population, do not have access to safe water.
  •  Dirty water/poor sanitation claims lives of 900 under-5s across the world daily, that's one child every 2 minutes.
  • Among newborn babies, an unclean environment accounts for one death every minute. [Source: INFORUM]
With those statistics, it's no wonder attention needs to be focused on purer, cleaner water. The more polluted our water becomes the less we have to live upon. In 1993, the United Nations declared March 22 as World Water Day to highlight the importance of freshwater and to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. Celebrate this World Water Day by learning how people are making a difference around the world.

While it is virtually impossible to make all the water in the world pure, fresh and clean, there are ways to improve conditions, which in turn saves lives.
