♫Absolute Worst & Best of the Best♫

Someone somewhere is always trying to outdo or outperform someone else. This is especially true in Hollywood and of course, within the music industry. Whether live on stage or on video, often the showmanship outshines the melody, which unfortunately too many times isn't even audible. What a shame when it should always be about the music. Let's step back in time today with a glimpse of the best of the best but not without first checking out the worst!

Today in Music History...March 8

The Absolute Worst...
1990: Cher won the worst dressed female, and worst video for 'If I Could Turn Back Time'.
In The Rolling Stone Magazine's awards, Donny Osmond won the most unwelcome comeback award.
 March 1990

The Best of the Best
1975: Olivia Newton-John went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Have You Ever Been Mellow', the singers second US No.1.
The single became Newton-John's second consecutive number one hit on the U.S.
1986: Diana Ross was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with the 'Chain Reaction.' Written and produced by the Bee Gees, who also provided the backing vocals for the single.
 The single became Ross's first
No. 1 single in the UK since 1971.
1986: Whitney Houston went to No.1 on the US album chart with her self-titled album. It spent a total of 14 weeks at the No.1 position.

The album generated three #1 singles
making it the first debut album and
the first album by a female artist
to achieve that feat.

What's your opinion...agree or disagree?

And the music goes on beating to the rhythm of the changing times...
