Let's Go fly a kite!

In one sense of the phrase, telling someone to "go fly a kite" is expressing desire for that person to leave because of annoyance. In other words, you are telling someone who is annoying to go away. Go away! Go away! Get outta' here! Just go fly a kite to make yourself busy!

In another sense, think about an instance where flying a kite made a tremendous impact on how we live today. Yep! Think Benjamin Franklin. It is very doubtful anyone ever told Ben Franklin to "go fly a kite" in any sense of the phrase. But, flying a kite is just what he supposedly did...in the midst of a thunderstorm... while it was lightning! The rest is history being recalled every time we flip a light switch.  In 1964, flying a kite was epitomized in song.

Well, "go fly a kite" is exactly what I am telling you to do! On this day go buy a kite or even better make one, go outside and fly, fly, fly away. Let it soar as you breathe in the fresh air simply enjoying time outdoors. Just don't fly it during a lightning storm!

February 8 is...
KITE Flying Day!

The celebration declares for you to find a sunny, public open place, and join in with Kite Flying Day! Take a picnic to the park, get competitive. See who can fly the highest, the fastest, and the most intricately! Of course, try to be the one with the funniest, the craziest, the biggest, the baddest, the most unusual kite ever!
Is it snowing where you live? Don't let that stop you...

Need some kite ideas? You can fly one as small or as big as you like!

Just think...instead of telling someone to "go fly a kite", on this day you can say to that someone...
