Inside the Stadium...Super Bowl 50

Welcome to Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, California, the most tech-savvy stadium in America! On May 29, 2009 the San Francisco 49ers reached an agreement with the City of Santa Clara to construct a $1.3 billion stadium. At a cost of over $1 billion, 90% of the stadium was funded by the sale of stadium assets, a hotel tax, the 49ers and the NFL. Construction started in April 2012 and Levi's Stadium opened on July 17, 2014.

San Francisco’s new Levi’s Stadium, home of Super Bowl 50, is a one-of-a-kind stadium. When the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos take the field Sunday afternoon, they will be playing in the first professional sports stadium with a dedicated classroom. This modern stadium serves as much a role in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum as the football played on the field.
To discuss force — not always a high-energy concept — real-life examples of a football flying on the field can open up the concept. When discussing the air pressure of footballs, students learn about gas law and air as weight.
Did you really think the game of football was simply running, kicking, punting and tossing a pigskin?

Football, the sport of sports
what makes it so popular...
here at home, abroad
absolutely globular?

Offensively...

catching a pigskin
running the field
side-stepping opponents
not wanting to yield

bumped and bruised
being taken down
holding the pigskin
hitting the ground

the count is on
it's fourth down
'kick that pigskin'
cheers abound

battered and sore
breathless at times
counting the seconds
'til the buzzer chimes

 Defensively...

  eyeing the pigskin
looking all around
running across field
taking opponent down

bumping and bruising
knocking to the ground
inflicting injuries
concussions abound

the count is on
it's fourth down
'block that pigskin'
cheers resound

battered and sore
breathless at times
counting the seconds
'til the buzzer chimes

 Football, the sport of sports...
the ritual of the hour
adrenaline on overload
the hype, the speed, the power
