Do you remember Blondie?

Depending upon the era in which you grew up, with only the mention of the name Blondie, it might not be completely clear as to whom I am referring. Your first thought might bring into the spotlight "Blondie" Chaplin who played in the band The Flames in the mid-to-late 60s. Doesn't ring a bell? What if we move into the 70s where Chaplin became known to international audiences as a singer and guitarist for The Beach Boys. Better picture? That may be but keep thinking for there's the American Rock Band, Blondie who was a pioneer in the early American new wave and punk scenes of the mid-late 70s. And, Blondie Lockes is a 2013-introduced character who's the daughter of Goldilocks in the fairytale The Story of the Three Bears and a student at Ever After High. That's a lot of Blondies!
If I add the year 1933, all of the aforementioned fade into the background so now your mental image has completely changed. Is there more to the name? Keeping the date in mind, let's add a last name, Boopadoop. Does that shed a brighter light? Um-m-m-m? Blondie Boopadoop?
What about a real picture instead of relying on a mental image? This will help all you folks who are visually inclined... It is always better to put a face to a name!

The comic strip Blondie, distributed by King Features Syndicate, has been published in newspapers since September 8, 1930 and later became a hit on radio, television and in films. It was on this day, February 17, 1933 when the marriage took place between Blondie Boopadoop, the tile role and flapper in the comic strip and Dagwood Bumstead, millionaire heir and playboy. Of course, Dagwood as we know him in the comic strip never became a millionaire and his playboy days ended when he met Blondie. Click below for a synopsis of their romance as depicted by the daughter of its creator cartoonist Chic Young.

The two unlikely misfits tied the matrimonial knot
in the memorable comic strip wedding scene of February 17, 1933.
Blondie's marriage marked the beginning of a change in her personality. From that point forward, she gradually assumed her position as the sensible head of the Bumstead household. And Dagwood, who previously had been cast in the role of straight man to Blondie's comic antics, took over as the comic strip's clown.
