9 to 5

Today's record postings in history have so far consisted of the 1997 hit movie Titanic and the music spotlight on one of country music's smoothest balladeers Conway Twitty. It just so happens on this same day different year another another big movie hit occurred with its theme song launching an already established country singer permanently into mainstream popular culture.

Welcome into the Spotlight...

For a historical double, first song...

Dolly Parton American singer-songwriter, actress, author, businesswoman and hmanitarian considered one of country music's greatest stars

One of twelve children, Dolly Parton moved to Nashville after high school to pursue a career in music. Her singing career took off in 1967 when she partnered with Porter Wagoner on the Porter Wagoner Show. As a result of this endeavor, Parton signed a contract with RCA records scoring her first No.1 country hit in 1971 with "Joshua". Additional hits included "Jolene" (1973) and "I Will Always Love You" (1974), the latter becoming one of Parton's signature songs. In 1977, the song "Here You Come Home Again" reached the top of both the pop and country charts earning her first Grammy Award for her performance of this tune. From that point on, her musical career has soared! Check it out HERE!

Adding film to her repertoire...

1980 Nine To Five, starring Dolly Parton and featuring the classic theme song by the singer (where she uses her fingernails as an instrument) opens in theaters.
If by some chance you have not seen the film, below is the trailer to tempt you into its viewing. 9 to 5 was a hit, grossing over $3.9 million in its opening weekend in the United States and is the 20th highest-grossing comedy film.

1960 : The Four Preps record "More Money For You And Me" live at North Hollywood High School.
