On the Music Scene & Out of Hollywood

History is often perceived as boring but actually is absolutely one of the most interesting and poignant of any subject area. All one has to do is enter into its realm ready to well up with emotion within a visual perception. It is life at its best and its worst! It tells a daily story filled with drama, music and often can be personally related to some form of involvement. Every single day falls under the classification of a day in history. Whether it be reports of a disaster, within general interest, from Hollywood, of literary quality, filled with music, out of the Old West, excitement in a sports arena, successes/casualties of war, rise and fall of the economy, or even of Presidential nature, it can all be recorded as happening on a single given day.

Click This Day in History for November 4 is filled to the gill! A couple of music references and one out of Hollywood are presented below for your perusal and entertainment.

Let's begin this step back in time with music...

November 4, 1978, a time when disco was at its zenith of popularity! These were some Groovy Times!

"I often think that perhaps the reason I became a successful singer was that, as a kid, I could never do anything as well as my brothers. I wanted to do something better than they did."
Canada's "Songbird", Anne Murray

Reggae Vibrations, November 4, 1972

Reggae-influenced music has found its way into chart toppers by recording artists of varying genres, such as Stevie Wonder, Shakira, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Blondie, Black-Eyed Peas, Rihanna, UB40, Simon & Garfunkel and even The Beatles just to name a few. Reggae music is one of the world's few remaining living styles of folk music. This remarkably popular form of music is heavily influenced by people's experiences, emotions and traditions being created with incredible amounts of soul and pride.
With the background being laid, in the spotlight today is one of the first non-Jamaican singers to record reggae music in Kingston, Jamaica.

and, Out of Hollywood...

Not bad for a day's work so to speak when an unexpected movie's success goes on to earn 12 Academy Award Nominations bringing home 7 wins. This film became a film of epic proportion. In addition to its Academy Award nominations and wins, it is the first Western film to win an Academy Award for Best Picture since 1931's Cimarron, thereby establishing it as one of the most honored films of 1990.
Within the film are memorable moments and scenes that capture the heart, mind and soul to be relived over and over again as visions appear when something or someone brings it back into the forefront.

What memorable event impacted your life on this day in history?
