Peach Rivalry

There is rivalry when it comes to sports - football vs. baseball & basketball, beverages - Coke vs. Pepsi, pets - dogs vs. cats, sibling rivalry - brothers vs. sisters, rivalry from state to state - North vs. South, East vs. West and so on. Then, there is peach rivalry - California vs. Georgia vs. South Carolina for starters!

http://farmflavor.com/how-peaches-are-harvested-and-other-peach-fun-facts/The U.S. is the world's largest producer of peaches, accounting for about 20% of the total supply with peaches being grown in 28 of the 50 states. The top four peach-producing states are California, South Carolina, Georgia and New Jersey. California produces both fresh and processed peaches, whereas South Carolina and Georgia produce mainly fresh peaches.

With that many peaches being produced, there is no reason at all for anyone missing out on the next celebrated peach day.

August 24 is...
National Peach Pie Day

A favorite dessert of the South, second only perhaps to peach cobbler, is fresh peach pie. This succulent pie was invented around the 14th century in Europe. Though it is unknown who actually created the first peach pie, it did appear in print in 1381 by Geoffrey Chaucer in England. The ingredients in this recipe included peaches, spices, figs, raisins, pears, saffron, and cofyn, a casing of pastry.
