There are actors and there are musicians. Then, there are actors who are musicians and musicians who are actors. Today's spotlight is on a multifaceted artist, who started out musically in a band called "Meat Loaf Soul," went on to sell more than 43 million copies of his 1977 classic album Bat Out of Hell alone. As an actor, he's particularly revered for his role of Eddie in the iconic American stage and movie versions of The Rocky Horror Show and Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as his notable appearance in 1999's Fight Club.
Meat Loaf And, this is not ground beef packed with peppers, onions, egg, milk, spices and bread. The spotlight today shines on Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday). According to Wikipedia, he is noted for the Bat Out of Hell album trilogy consisting of Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose and his powerful vocals over a three-octave range.
After 35 years, Bat Out of Hell still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually and stayed on the charts for over nine years, making it one of the best selling albums of all time.

Today in 1979 The futuristic film 'Americathon' premiered in Los Angeles featuring Meat Loaf. The soundtrack included songs by The Beach Boys, Nick Lowe and Elvis Costello.
Being cast 20 years into the future, the film contains many prophetic elements, such as: predicting the demise of the Soviet Union, the prevalence of reality television, and the sale of public assets to the private sector (a trend starting shortly after the film's release.)
