A Salute to Military Spouses

We honor, or SHOULD honor, our military on a daily basis for their service to America - My America, YOUR America, Our America! They lay their lives on the line. We often hear on the news the ultimate sacrifice which soldiers make across the world protecting our nation from those who threaten innocent civilians. But, what about the other half - the support network - wives, husbands, children, loved ones, family members that are left behind all so often!

Today is...

Military Spouse Appreciation Day originated in the United States during the height of the Cold War. It was created by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger established the Friday before Mother’s Day as Military Spouses Appreciation Day.
The day was created to honor the spouses of those who serve in our country’s military (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard or Coast Guard). Since then every US President has celebrated the day each year and has encouraged the world’s population to do just the same, recognizing not just the risk which military personnel expose themselves to every day of the year, but also to the supportive families who make their many struggles bearable.

To those who support those who serve...

Today and everyday show appreciation for our military spouses who are at the core of our Armed Forces and serve America in their own special way. Theirs are helping hands - assisting family, loved ones and friends during times of a deployment, caring for wounded warriors, supporting veterans and being there when needed in the direst of times.
America's voice is your voice
Within a country where there's choice

'Tis beauty more than just landscapes
It's courage amid heartaches

Knowing that freedom is not free
With a high price paid for liberty
