Winter Holiday Traditions

There are so many traditions surrounding the holiday season. Most are enjoyed because we learned of their existence from our parents who enjoyed them because each was practiced by their parents whose parents carried on similar beliefs passed down to them from their parents...and the beat goes on, back in time, from generation to generation.

The aroma of Grandma's cinnamon apple turnovers still permeates the corridors of my mind!

While events, such as, singing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, putting up the Christmas tree, donning the tree with ornament after ornament, decking the halls with boughs of holly, hanging Christmas stockings, enjoying candy canes, waiting in anticipation for Santa, kissing under mistletoe, and many, many more are standard, have you ever wondered how any of them got started? To test your inquisitive mind even more, did you know Xmas does NOT take Christ out of Christmas? Um-m-m-m? Now that is something to think about!

Granddad's eggnog best not be remembered!

Without further ado, let's step back in time to the origin of commonplace traditions still practiced today.

Here's the scoop on 27 holiday traditions...ENJOY!

Do you have some family traditions other than those shared in the video? Gift to me your comments. Would love to hear from you!
