America: Enchanting, Beautiful and Free

The premise behind Awakenings is to reopen the eyes of Americans to the awareness of those who laid the foundation and established the platform for America's freedom. It began over 400 years ago with the most significant landing in our nation's founding: Jamestown, Virginia, 1607. This significant point in time did not occur without sacrifice: lives of individuals, entire families and loved ones. And, sacrifices are still being made today to maintain that which was established centuries ago.

America - land of enchantment,  America - the beautiful,
America - land of the free

Enchanted Land
Encountering land after many weeks at sea embraced an enchanting site!
The spirit of European exploration exalted its presence
in the most significant landing in our nation’s founding:
Jamestown, Virginia, 1607.
*****
Visions of enchantment
Transcended from shore to shore
Awakening sleepy thoughts
Of adventures o’er and o’er

Seekers and adventurers
Left families, loved ones behind
Marking the end of one era
A new beginning for mankind

What was it they heartily sought
Across the raging perilous sea?
Was it peace and tranquility
Or simply a new life meant to be?

Ferocious winds, hostile seas
Crushed the hull and tore at the sails
With strength, determination
Safe passage did at last prevail
 File:Tiny Star.gifFile:Tiny Star.gifFile:Tiny Star.gif
“Land ahoy!” echoed loudly
Along the horizon’s thin line
The journey to the new world
Ended as hands firmly entwined
 File:Tiny Star.gifFile:Tiny Star.gifFile:Tiny Star.gif
Ailing men, fathers and sons
Lined the deck toward their utopia
“Look at such magnificence
The land of enchantment—America!”

But we must not let America grow old in spirit."

  5. We have such a beautiful country. If only we'd all take some time to acknowledge how blessed we are and give thanks to God for the opportunity to live here. Thanks, Sharla, great post.

    1. Our country was founded on the platform 'in God we trust' so the human powers at be need to get back to the foundation laid by our forefathers. It is in His hands, Deirdre.

  6. From one Patriot to another: Thank you for your presentation. Sharla, of all the blogs I have read and am following yours is closest to mine. Although mine was created to bring a book out to the people, it contains in action what you have put into words. If you get a chance stop by and take a look. Let me know what you think. There are not many older posts on mine since I just started my blog in June. I would love to hear your reaction.
