Numerous renowned leaders symbolize past greatness undeniably instrumental in founding America’s freedom.
Of these, there were several who went on to become
president of the United States of America.
Had it not been for the faith and courage of our forefathers
America would not be an independent nation
but would have remained under British rule.

Whisperings from the Past
One that ended in smiles
Or made you bawl?
Left its mark
To eternally stay?
Completely perplexed
Not at all at ease?
That need to flame
For a new start?
Beauty you walk in
Or worldly measures?
What keystones instill
Values first, not last?

Rule under oppression and tyranny
Or enjoying the land of the free?

What memorable day
Do you recallOne that ended in smiles

Not at all at ease?
What fires remain
Heavy of heartThat need to flame

ReplyDeleteI liked this poem. I'm still attached to rhyming poems although I've written and sold a few that had a good enough meter than they seems to rhyme but didn't. I hope to see more f your poetry.
