Yet our men and women in the sevice do this every day of their lives, in dangerous war zones, stifling heat--conditions we couldn't possibly bear. Yet they do it for our country and for us--keeping us safe from losing that freedom to terroism and tyranny. I can't know what motivates them but I am so glad as I pray for them that we have these unselfish protectors in our lives.Micki Peluso is the author of "And the Whippoorwill Sang"https://www.blogger.com/profile/14286402859989726344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7910520855356350996.post-16330713318823965622012-07-25T19:20:53.921-04:002012-07-25T19:20:53.921-04:00Linda, what a heart-warming reply! My dad served in the Navy during WWII (Iwo Jima), my brother in the Army in Cambodia/Laos, and while my husband did not serve during times of war, he did serve his country while in the Navy. Each time I encounter one of our military men or women, I reach out my hand in honor and respect. Yes, God bless America and her neighbor, Canada.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01592703953660880527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7910520855356350996.post-54433688707908978592012-07-25T19:10:38.099-04:002012-07-25T19:10:38.099-04:00Sharla - Great post and although I may be Canadian...Sharla - Great post and although I may be Canadian, all of our troops deserve every bit of support they can get. It is right and fitting to honor them in every way possible, including ensuring that they have an excellent pension, good healthcare and a job when they return. When one of our boys loses the battle, he or she is transported home to Trenton, Ontario or an AFB close to the family. From Trenton, the cavalcade travels the Highway of Heroes which is Highway 401, the largest best known highway in Ontario, from border to border with Toronto in between. Every bridge is manned with Police, Firefighters, military, pedestrians and more, all saluting the cavalcade as it passes by. We would not have the freedoms we enjoy today without them. God Bless America and Canada - strong and free.Linda Haleshttp://www.linnieslittlebooks.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7910520855356350996.post-23524758496987179042012-07-25T16:58:43.970-04:002012-07-25T16:58:43.970-04:00Deidre, I truly appreciate your following and comm...Deidre, I truly appreciate your following and commenting on Awakenings.
